Book 3 in the Bad Boyfriends Series

With his business empire under fire and ready to collapse, Kane and his partners turn to unlikely sources for help.

Nick Lopez is a wounded warrior, an undercover major crimes cop caught in the crossfire when he brokers a deal between competing rival Miami crime families. When his best friend, David Black, calls him for advice, Nick sees it as an omen. Sometimes it’s better to get out of Dodge and live, so he quits the force and heads north.

Jace McClune has seen and done too much as a vice cop. His last undercover assignment was his undoing, leaving him with an intervention but no resolution. Thomas Kane has friends in high places and when he hints the mob’s fingerprints are all over the attempts to take over his businesses, the precinct brass see this as a good way for Jace to get his head on straight with a babysitting job.

Jace and Nick pair up for a simple sting operation, but they soon discover that under the layers of betrayal and lies runs the threat of a new operation—one that takes the skin trade to new levels of perversion. Neither man is prepared for the mutual attraction that simmers to a rolling boil as it becomes clear that the only way they can cut to the truth is to allow Jace to sink once more into the dangerous underbelly of the city.

They’re about to find out why a man you can’t break is a man worth breaking…

Nick Lopez has found himself between a bit of a rock and a hard place after getting shot when his last job went south. Turning in his badge, he leaves the job he loves because he loves living more...good thing his friend David has asked him for help and he has some where to go. Jace McClune is a bit burnt out; after his last job undercover he's finding it hard to figure out just who he is anymore...it certainly doesn't help that he's been outed as being gay to the rest of the force. Being lent out to help Thomas Kane seems like an easy job but things are never that simple, especially when he meets Nick. First, let me start out by saying that I never read the first two books in this series but I really wish I had as I think I would've both understood more about what was going on and also enjoyed it more. (I think this is supposed to be a tie in with the first book.) I thought the characters were really well put together and unique, however; I never had any problems keeping track of who was who. The chemistry between Nick and Jace was believable and didn't feel at all contrived and the sex scenes were varied enough I wasn't bored with them. The pacing of the story was also well done; and the the complications in the plot just made the book more interesting. There is quite a bit of violence in this and if you aren't into books with bdsm in them, you might not really enjoy this one; the story was kind of on the darker side of things, which worked for it, but also something to keep in mind. My favorite part of the book was the ending; there was action to keep it from just fizzling out and it left things off in a really good place for another novel. I did find myself struggling to get into the book, however. I'd pick it up and put it down and go do something else for a while before coming back and trying it again. I'm not sure why I couldn't get into it as much as I wanted to though that could loop back around to not having read the first two books. There were also some editing issues in the book with the spacing; there were quite a few instances were you'd find two words squished together. It isn't the worst editing mistake but by the end of the book I was fairly irritated with it. Overall I found it to be a decent read and if you enjoyed the first two books, I'm sure you'll like this one. If you're like me, however, don't just jump into it without some context or you may not care for it as much.

Jerking Iron A Bad Boyfriends Novel edition by Nya Rawlyns Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

This was the third A Bad Boyfriends Novel. This was a magnificently written story that will keep you on your toes from beginning to end. It was a rollercoaster ride of action and emotions that you can never be sure of where your going to land. This is the story of tall, dark, sexy as sin Nick and his unlikely swaggering, intense, snarky new partner Jace. They were brought together through their own reasons but are those same reasons going to bring them together or get them killed. They are both so determined, so focused, so set in their own ways. This story continues from the two previous books, Pumping Iron and Curling Iron. This story seems to put all those storylines to rest. I was very satisfied with the outcome of all of that. I was also very glad to see what happened to Marshall. I am just sorry to say goodbye to all the characters from this outstanding set of Bad Boyfriends. This was an absolutely incredible story about two very strong, incredible men who went on an assignment together that would've broke lesser men. Their chemistry however was the journey and was the best of the best. I loved this story the most. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK AND GIVE IT 5 STARS PLUS!!!
So this was different....

I am so used to the story line, arc, plot and characters that make up the Bad Boyfriends series but this one? Oh my, this twists the whole arc as I am used to it, bringing the level of this series from mere fluffy pseudo-erotic M/M romance to that of an action packed, erotic, violent and darker novel. Don't get this wrong, this is a fantastic, Holy Camote type of surprise that made me gasp and ask if I had the right book or not.

Okay, I really surprise myself here I give this a 5 Stars for the surprise in the twists and turns as well as applauding the author for upping the bar for her works. This is a different Nya Rawlyns who takes her readers to a complicated and intrigue-filled plot involving the mafia, mafiya and the DEA. The deaths we read before, they were not as they seemed. Jace and Nick, the newest addition to this series, we never even seen them before but they were mentioned once or twice previously. Now we have them and they are not what they seem.

Nick comes from the past, David's best friend in college who comes when called. He had been through a lot from his last stint as an undercover agent and even David does not really know what went down. Heck if anybody really knew, thing is, everything hit the proverbial fan and it just stunk up everything in his life. Going to help out David was a call of duty what he did not expect was to be brought back to the very type of work he left and in the process, find the man who could hold up to his needs and his longings.

Jace is another one who lives a dangerous life. He, too, is an undercover cop, but his latest stint opened doors he thought closed and more danger than he could figure out what to do with. When his captain assigns him this supposed baby-sitting job, he was resigned. He did not expect the twists and turns to turn fatal for him and his new friends. For they were friends, he finds out, friends that no one thought he could have. And one of these new friends is Nick, someone he never thought could be the one man to answer his questions and have his back at all times.

This is an action filled story where the drama is found within the bullets that fly every which way it could. It is a story that brings an ordinary male escort service feud into a full blown illegal mafia/mafiya war. The answers, when they are finally revealed, they are not what they seem. There is more, we are just given the tip of this iceberg of a plot and it does not help that Junior and Dax are right in the middle of it and may just reveal more than what we are prepared for.

This has me a twitching in my seat, from the erotic scenes, to the violence that I love, and the bullet filled air that hits and misses the targets. It was a Whoa! moment for me. Totally did not expect this.
