I really enjoyed this book and it held my attention. It was a little formulaic and cliche in places but the author made up for it with vivid writing and an interesting main character. I can't say I loved Emerson or the guys, but they had their own good and bad characteristics.My only complaint is that there were some plot holes that I expected to be explained at some point, but was only left with more questions and wondering if she just missed a few spots to match up with the story. I read the last bit of book 2's preview, but when I bought book 2 to find out what happened, it seemed like a totally different story and had me very confused. That one was a dnf because it was a wtf.
Overall, for book 1, Silent Circle, it was a great debut for the indie author. As she grows as a writer, I am looking forward to seeing how her stories progress. She shows promise and this book was a good start. Four glittery stars.

Beautifully written story about a teenage girl coming into her own. Ms. Larsen paints a captivating tale that is for sure a page turner. Can't wait for the 2nd book to come out!
I can't wait for the next book. Very entertaining, well thought out with a beautiful flow. I found myself thinking about the story while driving to work. Cassandra keeps you guessing and wanting to know more. Great read. Highly recommend.
The Book is really good! I read it in one sweep, couldn't put it down. Now I am starting to read Book 2 . Must know how it ends. I love witches that is living in our time. Read it!
From the very beginning i was hook. This author is amazing. She really knows how to make her stories come alive. She has you hook fron psge 1. As soon as i was done with this book i had to buy book 2 cant wait for book 3
I'm an adult, but I enjoyed this novel and found the characters believable. Indeed, in view of Emerson's background, her inability to trust made a great deal of sense. The story arc was somewhat predictable, but I liked that this novel came to a resolution though there is clearly room for development. I shall keep following the series. Emerson has the capacity to become quite a woman.
This novel is a fair read. It has plenty of the high-school mainia as is the hallmark of many YA novels, with some of it's own creativity making it's stamp.
It's not badly written although there are plenty of editing hiccup, an example being 'seating' for 'setting'. For some reason beyond me ken, these errors appear frequently in independently authored novels. Nonetheless, I remain unreasonably infuriated by them.
What this story does do, is kick in with some new stuff further into the novel, and this definitely gives the story a good boost.
I'm finding this entertaining enough to jump on to the next novel.
Cassandra Larsen's "Silent Circle" is probably the best independent YA paranormal novel I've read so far. There is so much to love about it.
I have been an avid fan of everything paranormal and fantastic since I was a child and consider myself a connoisseur when it comes to those genres. You will find familiar denizens in Larsen's novel, but they have been tweaked in ways that are unique and believable.
The characters and plot are both enigmatic (mysterious, not hard to comprehend) and kept me guessing throughout the novel and still have me wondering where the narrative is ultimately headed. I applaud Emerson for creating a protagonist that straddles the line of heroine/anti-heroine. Emerson is an excellent, complex character.
Larsen's edgy writing style has made me a fan. Some YA authors hold back when it comes to horror elements, and it really disappoints me. Larsen is not one of them. "Deceitful Circle", book 2 in the series, was just released. I'm raring to know what happens, so I'm going to go ahead and grab it.
I highly recommend this novel for teens and adults looking for a fresh paranormal series.
