I enjoyed this book. The book moved along well with plenty of action. The steampunk element was enjoyable. The characters were not flat but I felt they could have used more development.For me the real problem with the book was that it felt hurried as if the author was in a rush to get finished. For instance, some paragraphs had two completely different subjects with no connection to each other. Some of the word usage seem a little unusual to me but thankfully synonyms were not in evidence. I felt that the formatting could have been a bit better with no indentation at the start of each paragraph. That may be a personal choice of the author but I think could be confusing.
The faults that I found were not really serious with the rushed feeling being the worst but that is a personal reaction and may not affect others. The book is worth reading if you like steampunk. I recommend this book for those who like the genre.

I bought this book (paperback) some years ago at a steampunk themed convention. I love this book! The author gives you great detail about the environment and history that the story takes place. You get glimpses into the characters and there's no messy romance, nor sex, to detract from the action and detailing of this alternate historical fiction. I'm only disappointed that there's been no sequel to this.
